DS Servo 20KG 3218 Pro

Short Description

DS3218 Pro Servo 180° is a 20kg-class, metal-gear standard servo for lifters, clamps, and steering. Dual ball bearings and an aluminum mid-case deliver smooth, repeatable motion, while the 25T spline fits common horns. It responds quickly—≈0.16s/60° @5V and ≈0.14s/60° @6.8V—and its IP66 build resists dust and water jets. Regulate to ≤6.8V with a UBEC/BEC and set endpoints to avoid hard stops for reliable control. The DS3218 Pro Servo works with standard PWM receivers and controllers.

The DS3218 Pro Servo

Meet the arena-proven standard servo builders actually like to use. DS3218 Pro Servo (180°) delivers confident control for lifters, clamps, and steering thanks to its metal gear train, dual ball bearings, and heat-shedding aluminum mid-case. It centers cleanly, holds position under load, and keeps moving after the hits.

You get true 180° travel for smooth linkage geometry, plus a 25T (Futaba-style) spline for easy horn swaps and upgrades. The standard-size footprint drops into common mounts, and setup is straightforward—standard PWM control, quick response, and predictable feel on the sticks.

Builder tips: set transmitter endpoints so the arm never “hard stops,” keep linkages free of bind, and design for headroom so the servo isn’t living at stall. Do that, and this workhorse will give you the repeatable motion your mechanism deserves.

FAQs
I'm confused abut powering the servo, can you explain?

Sure. Check out our Powering Servos — Quick Guide

Servo Type Example  Battery Do This Why
Standard Voltage (4.8v - 6.8v) DSservo DS3218 PRO 2S - 3S Plug Servo directly into Receiver. The BEC from your ESC or UBEC that powers the receiver is also sufficient to power the servo. Check the voltage on the BEC to ensure it doesn't exceed 6V. Do not wire the servo directly to the battery pack. The BEC/UBEC gives the servo the voltage it expects.  Direct wiring creates an overvoltage risk.
High Voltage FingerTech 25kg 9v 2S Connect the servo's red power wire direct to battery. The signal wire (yellow) and ground wi (brown) should still be connected to the receiver. Direct wire of power uses the higher 2S voltage for more speed/torque.  However, this configuration cannot handle 3S+ voltages.
High Voltage FingerTech 25kg 9v 3S–4S Use a UBEC 7.4v+ to feed the servo; receiver stays on its own 5–6V BEC. Lipo voltage is too high; the UBEC gives the servo the right voltage.

Is this the 180° or 270° version?

This SKU is the 180° DS3218 PRO. A 270° variant is common; list it separately to avoid endpoint confusion.

What voltage should I run?

Most listings rate DS3218-class servos in the 4.8–6.8V range. Many builders successfully run them in 2S systems—often via a receiver/BEC output in the 5–6V range. If you plan to power directly from 2S, bench-test first, avoid binding, and set radio endpoints to prevent hard stops.

What spline and horns does it use?

Standard 25T (Futaba-style) spline. Choose 25T aluminum or reinforced plastic horns for high-load applications.

Will it fit my mount?

Yes—this is a standard-size case, approx. 40×20×40.5mm. Check your horn/arm clearance and linkage geometry when using the full 180° travel.

How fast and strong is it?

Typical figures: ≈0.16s/60° @5V (≈0.14s/60° @6.8V) and stall torque around ≈19kg·cm @5V, ≈21.5kg·cm @6.8V. Design for headroom—target ≤70% of peak torque in normal use.

What signal does it use?

Standard PWM servo control with ~1520µs neutral and a tight deadband; works with typical RC receivers and many controllers.
