Carbon Fiber Beetleweight Motor Mounts

These FingerTech carbon fiber motor mounts are the clean, lightweight solution for face-mounting beetleweight drive motors to flat robot sides. Cut from carbon fibre sheet, they’re stiffer and lighter than the aluminum mounts they replace — 2.8g each versus 4.1g for the old aluminum version — and purpose-sized for the demands of beetleweight combat.

Designed for the Mega Spark — Works with Any Compatible Motor

These mounts are the go-to solution for the FingerTech Mega Spark Brushless Gearmotors — available in 750KV, 1500KV, and 2300KV. They also work with any beetleweight drive motor that uses M2 screws on an 18mm bolt circle or M3 screws on a 19mm bolt circle — making them the universal choice for beetleweight builds.

Which Mount Do I Need?

FingerTech updated the Mega Spark Brushless Gearmotors in July 2025 to use M3 screws on a 19mm bolt circle. The older aluminum mounts only support M2/18mm motors and won’t work with post-July ’25 Mega Sparks. These CF mounts cover both generations:

Mounting Details

Each mount has four chassis mounting holes for #6 screws spaced 1.25in × 0.625in (31.75mm × 15.88mm) apart. The 2.0mm carbon fibre thickness gives you a rigid, rattle-free motor mount that holds position under the shock loads of competition driving. Note that these mounts are not countersunk. FingerTech recommends M2-0.4x5mm socket head screws instead of countersunk screws. If you’re going to countersink the screw holes, we don’t recommend it, but if you must, remember that carbon fiber dust is an irritant — wear long sleeved garments, safety glasses, gloves, and a mask.

Motor mounts take side hits in combat — carbon fibre is tough but not indestructible. A spare pair in your pit bag costs almost nothing in weight or money and keeps you in the fight if a mount cracks at an event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will these mounts work with my motor?

These mounts fit any beetleweight drive motor with M2 screws on an 18mm bolt circle or M3 screws on a 19mm bolt circle. That covers the full FingerTech Mega Spark Brushless Gearmotor lineup — both pre- and post-July '25 versions — as well as the 22mm Planetary Brushed Gearmotor. If you're not sure which bolt circle your motor uses, check the manufacturer's spec sheet.

What screws do I need?

It depends on your motor. For M2/18mm motors (22mm Planetary Brushed Gearmotor and pre-July '25 Mega Spark), use M2-0.4 × 5mm socket head screws. For post-July '25 Mega Spark Brushless Gearmotors, use M3-0.5 × 5mm socket head screws. Use the correct screw for your motor — the wrong size won't thread properly and risks stripping the motor faceplate.

Can I use these to replace my old aluminum mounts?

These are not a direct chassis drop-in for the old aluminum mounts — the chassis mounting hole patterns are different. The aluminum mounts use #4 countersunk screws on a 26mm square pattern for the chassis connection; the CF mounts use #6 screws on a 1.25in × 0.625in (31.75mm × 15.88mm) rectangular pattern. If you're retrofitting an existing aluminum-mount chassis, you'll need to re-drill your chassis mounting holes. They will fit the motor mounting pattern, but you should use screws that are not designed for countersunk holes.

Can I drill or modify these mounts?

CARBON FIBER DUST AND SHAVINGS ARE A SKIN, EYE, AND RESPIRATORY IRRITANT — WE DON'T RECOMMEND MODIFYING CF PARTS, BUT IF YOU MUST, PLEASE WEAR SAFETY GLASSES, GLOVES, A LONG-SLEEVED SHIRT, AND A DUST MASK WHEN CUTTING, DRILLING, OR SANDING CF PARTS.

How many mounts come in a pack?

These are sold in pairs — one pack includes two mounts, enough for a standard two-wheel drive beetleweight. We recommend picking up an extra pair to keep in your pit bag. A cracked mount at an event is a quick fix if you have a spare on hand.
