The SSP 2.0 Pro brushless beetleweight combat robot kit is designed by Seth Schaffer of Just ‘Cuz Robotics — the team known for competing alongside Bloodsport on BattleBots. Competition-proven and trophy-winning, the SSP Pro is a no-spinning-weapon control bot — no test box required. Built on a single-piece UHMW billet chassis with brushless drive, a 42kg-cm servo, and the JCR Motherboard, it’s ready to assemble and battle. Full CAD files are included so you can mod, print, and make it your own.

The SSP 2.0 Pro brushless beetleweight combat robot kit is the brushless edition of the popular beetleweight lifter kit from Just ‘Cuz Robotics. It’s designed for builders who want a proven, trophy-winning beetleweight platform with modern brushless drive, clean wiring, and straightforward assembly. As a control bot/lifter with no spinning weapon, no test box is required — you can drive and test anywhere.

How it works

Blitz Lite brushless drive motors paired with JCR-RC AM32 35A ESCs handle drive on a 4S power system, giving stronger acceleration and higher efficiency than brushed drive. A quick 42kg-cm brushless servo controls the lifting arm. The custom JCR Motherboard handles power distribution, switch, LED, and dual voltage BECs in one small package — keeping the build clean and troubleshooting simple.

The SSP 2.0 Pro beetleweight bundle ships as a single unit with everything needed to build the robot: UHMW billet chassis, all drive and servo electronics, three front-end configurations (barbed forks, claw forks, and wedge), a 4S LiPo battery, FS2A receiver, and the JCR Motherboard. This bundle also includes a FlySky FS-i6 transmitter — Seth’s recommended starter radio — and a C6D LiPo charger. You’ll still need soldering equipment and basic tools. Prefer a pistol-grip style radio? The Radiomaster MT12 is a popular alternative — sold separately. If you go that route, buy the charger bundle, and purchase the transmitter separately.

Modularity and upgrades

The SSP 2.0 was redesigned from the ground up for modularity. The vertical spinner module attaches via a dedicated cutout in the chassis base. CAD files for all components are available under Product Documents — print your own replacement parts, design custom attachments, or modify the chassis to suit your build. What else do I need to run it?

Just soldering equipment and basic tools (4mm hex key, T15 Torx driver, needle nose pliers). Blue Loctite 242 or 243 is strongly recommended. The full list of required tools and equipment is in the assembly guide under Product Documents.

Who can build this kit?

The SSP 2.0 Pro is designed for builders ages 10 and up. Soldering is required — adult supervision is recommended for builders under 13. Everything else can be assembled by anyone who can hold a screwdriver. Even 10 and 11-year-olds have competed successfully with SSP kits at events around the world.

What makes SSP Pro different from SSP Standard?

The Pro upgrades the drivetrain to Blitz Lite brushless motors, JCR-RC AM32 35A ESCs, a 42kg-cm brushless servo, and a 4S power system — delivering more speed, power, and responsiveness. The chassis and overall layout are the same. See the full comparison on the SSP 2.0 Pro page.

Which transmitter should I use?

The Pro kit uses two separate brushless ESCs with no built-in drive mixing — so the transmitter must have drive mixing programmed. This bundle includes the FS-i6 — Seth's recommended starter radio. Seth's assembly guide (under Product Documents) walks you through programming drive mixing step by step. Prefer pistol-grip? The Radiomaster MT12 is available separately. If you go that route, buy the charger bundle, and purchase the transmitter separately.

Summary: Pro kit — you must program drive mixing on the TX.
