The Turnabot Slammer charger bundle includes a 150g fairyweight combat robot kit built on the same proven foundation as the Overthrow — strong N10 drive, battle-tested chassis, competition-grade electronics — but with a completely different weapon system. Where the Overthrow flips, the Slammer grabs. Designed by the Turnabot team, Slammer features mantis-like arms that combine with the lifter to grab an opponent, pin them, pick ’em up and flip ’em over— the robot equivalent of a wrestling suplex. It shares it’s DNA with the Overthrow, which took 2nd place at the RCL National Championships, but Slammer is its own fighting machine. It’s competition-grade yet approachable for all experience levels, and available in nine colors.

Choose Your Build

The Turnabot Slammer charger bundle is sold as a complete kit, available in Standard (unsoldered) or Presoldered versions. The Standard build is the full DIY experience — every part you need is included, along with screws, tools, and solder-assisting putty, so all you need to bring is a wire stripper, maybe some pliers, and a soldering iron. Full disclosure: soldering to the Malenki is a medium level of difficulty, so if you’re newer to electronics, the Presoldered version may be the better starting point. The Presoldered version comes with a fully assembled and tested wiring harness already in place — “known good” electronics that you install into your chosen color and get straight to battling. Step-by-step instructions are available in both PDF and video format.

What’s Included

Every Slammer kit includes a 3D-printed Slammer chassis, the Slammer arm system (claws, arms, linkages, and spacers), 2x N10 gearmotors, a Malenki Nano all-in-one receiver plus servo and drive controller, wheels and hubs, a power switch, KST DS215MG servo, wiring harness, a rechargeable 350mAh 2S LiPo battery, and all the small hardware needed for assembly. This bundle also includes a 2S Lipoly Charger. Here’s the part worth knowing: every Slammer kit also ships with the complete set of OverThrow plastics in the box — two distinct weapon systems in one kit, at the same price. Assembly Notes

The Slammer is designed for performance and battle durability, with an emphasis on easy maintenance between matches. The Slammer arm system adds a few extra assembly steps beyond the base OverThrow build — the weapon stack, claw assembly, and arm installation are where Slammer diverges from its sibling. The PDF walks you through it all. If you’ve built an OverThrow before, the chassis and electronics steps will be familiar; the weapon system is what’s different.

Safety Warning:

These robots are not destructive and not weaponized. Nevertheless, even robots with wedges, lifters, or forks can still poke, pinch, or launch robots and parts into the air. Use caution and common sense as you would with anything small and motorized.

If you elect to add weapons to these bots, realize that weaponized robots are not toys. Spinning weapons generate extreme kinetic energy — comparable to a power tool. Always use caution, engage a weapon lock, and test kinetic energy only within a secure arena or test box.

Is Slammer safe for kids and beginners?

Yes. Slammer’s flipper is a non-destructive weapon — it launches opponents into the air rather than damaging them, so there’s no spinning blade or disc to manage. It doesn’t need a specialized arena, making it a great fit for classrooms, camps, and clubs.

Presoldered or unsoldered — which build should I choose?

Presoldered is ready to wire up and run with minimal soldering — a good fit if you want to get building fast or you’re newer to electronics. Unsoldered gives more advanced builders full control over wiring, including adding their own weapon system down the road. Full disclosure: soldering a Malenki can be a little complex; we consider it a medium level of difficulty.

Can I add a spinning weapon to my Slammer?

Slammer ships as a non-destructive flipper bot, but advanced builders can wire in their own spinning weapon system using the unsoldered build option.  But Slammer wins “as is” — weaponizing isn’t necessary for victory. Adding a spinning weapon requires modifications to the chassis, along with careful attention to weight and engineering design work. If you do choose to weaponize Slammer with a spinner, please be careful to follow standard spinning weapon safety practices — secure testing in an arena or test box, weapon locks, and the usual precautions. Even a small bot with a spinning weapon can be dangerous.

What battery does Slammer use, and how do I charge it?

The Slammer comes with a rechargeable 7.4V 350mAh 2S LiPo battery, and a 2S LiPo charger is included with this bundle. Never leave a charging battery unattended, and store your LiPo partially charged in a LiPo safe bag when not in use.

What spare parts should I keep on hand?

Hubs, tires, and N10 1650 motors are the parts most likely to need replacing after hard hits or wear. Check the Maintenance tab above for the current parts list and pricing.

What else do I need to run the bot?

This bundle includes a 2S Lipoly Charger for the included battery. You’ll still need a transmitter that uses the AFHDS 2A protocol. Turnabot recommends the Flysky FS-i6, available at ItGresa.

The Flysky FS-CT6B will not work with a Malenki — it uses the older AFHDS protocol, while the Malenki requires AFHDS 2A. The “2A” matters. If you need both a transmitter and a charger, see our Transmitter & Charger bundle.

How do I set up my radio?

Slammer’s printed/PDF assembly instructions (downloadable under Product Documents on this page) include detailed, step-by-step radio setup for the FlySky FS-i6 — covering binding, battery alarm settings, flipper end points, drive direction checks, and how to reverse a channel if anything runs backward. Follow those steps in order for the smoothest setup.

Does the signal to the Malenki need to be mixed?

No — the Malenki-Nano comes with steering mixing built in and enabled by default, so a standard radio works right out of the box.

Tip: If your transmitter is already mixed, you must use an unmixed signal. We know from experience that a mixed transmitter signal + an ESC that does mixing = an unmixed bot– the two mixes cancel each other out.

Tip: How can you tell? If you put your drive stick (right hand stick) in the upper right hand corner (instead of straight ahead) and the bot goes forward, and put the stick in the lower left hand corner and it goes backward, your bot is unmixed.

My Malenki keeps flickering its blue LED — is it stuck in bind mode?

Maybe not — it’s more likely in Configuration Mode, which looks similar but is a completely different state. The key rule is simple: always turn on your transmitter before you power up your bot. If the Malenki comes on with no transmitter signal present, it can slip into Configuration Mode after just a few seconds — well before the 90 seconds needed to trigger Bind Mode. Configuration Mode is easy to exit: just give the bot a quick burst of drive input and it returns to normal drive mode immediately.

What if I strip a screw hole during assembly?

The Overthrow kit thoughtfully includes a few extra M2.5 × 6mm screws specifically for this — they’re slightly thicker than the standard M2 × 6mm screws and will bite into a stripped hole. Keep these separate from your other screws so you don’t mix them up, and only use them if a hole strips out during the build.
