Turnabot Squeezy Fairyweight Combat Robot Kit — Charger Bundle

Turnabot Squeezy Fairyweight Combat Robot Kit

The Turnabot Squeezy is a fairyweight combat robot kit built to grab, lift, and control — a horizontal grabber-lifter that earned 3rd place at the RCL National Championship. Of the 33 championship bots, 7 were based on Turnabot kits, and Squeezy only lost to the National Champion and the Slammer. It’s fully competitive right out of the box and upgradeable for serious contenders. This Turnabot Squeezy charger bundle pairs the kit with a 2S LiPo Charger — the charger is included, but you’ll need a transmitter if you don’t have one. Check out our full bundle with transmitter if you need one. Pick your color, choose presoldered or unsoldered, and get ready to build, battle, and win.

Grab, Lift, and Control with the Turnabot Squeezy

The Turnabot Squeezy is a 150g horizontal grabber-lifter — a fairyweight combat robot kit that wins by getting underneath its opponents, clamping down with its arms, and lifting them off the ground for control, points, and knockouts. Where spinners and flippers fight with impact, Squeezy wins with grip. It took 3rd place at the RCL National Championships, competing against 33 of the best fairyweight bots in the country. Of those 33 championship bots, 7 were built on Turnabot kits. Squeezy only lost to the National Champion and the Slammer — and it’s ready to go further. It runs the same proven electronics as Turnabot’s other fairyweights — N10 1650 gearmotors, Malenki Nano, KST DS-215MG servo — wrapped in a completely unique chassis and weapon system. Sold as a complete kit.

Choose Your Build

Squeezy is available in Standard (unsoldered) or Presoldered versions. The Standard build is the full DIY experience — every part you need is included, along with screws, tools, and solder-assisting putty. All you need to bring is a wire stripper and a soldering iron. If you’re newer to electronics, the Presoldered version is the better starting point: it comes with a fully assembled and tested wiring harness already in place — known-good electronics that you install into your chosen color and get straight to battling. Step-by-step instructions are available in both PDF and video format.

What’s Included

This Turnabot Squeezy charger bundle includes a 3D-printed Squeezy chassis, the full claw and arm assembly (left and right claws, arms, shoulder, slider, link, and self-righting mechanism), 2x N10 1650 gearmotors, a Malenki Nano all-in-one receiver and servo/drive controller, Turbo Torque wheels and hubs, a power switch, a KST DS-215MG servo, wiring harness, a rechargeable 350mAh 2S LiPo battery, and all the hardware needed for assembly. This bundle also includes a 2S LiPo Charger. A transmitter is required to run the bot and is not included — if you don’t already have one, check out our full bundle with transmitter.

Assembly Notes

Squeezy is designed for performance and durability with easy maintenance between matches. The claw and arm assembly, self-righting mechanism, and weapon linkage are Squeezy-specific steps that differ from other Turnabot kits — the PDF walks you through it all in detail. The chassis and electronics steps follow the same pattern as other Turnabot fairyweights, so if you’ve built one before, you’ll have a head start.

Safety Warning:

These robots are not destructive and not weaponized. Nevertheless, even robots with wedges, lifters, or forks can still poke, pinch, or launch robots and parts into the air. Use caution and common sense as you would with anything small and motorized.

If you elect to add weapons to these bots, realize that weaponized robots are not toys. Spinning weapons generate extreme kinetic energy — comparable to a power tool. Always use caution, engage a weapon lock, and test kinetic energy only within a secure arena or test box.

FAQ
Is Squeezy safe for kids and beginners?

Yes. Squeezy is a non-destructive grabber-lifter — it grabs and lifts opponents rather than cutting or spinning into them, so there’s no blade or disc to manage. It doesn’t need a specialized arena, making it a great fit for classrooms, camps, family build nights, and first-time builders.

Presoldered or unsoldered — which build should I choose?

Presoldered is ready to wire up and run with minimal soldering — a good fit if you want to get building fast or you’re newer to electronics. Unsoldered gives more advanced builders full control over wiring, including the option to add their own weapon system later. Full disclosure: soldering a Malenki can be a little complex; we consider it a medium level of difficulty.

What battery does Squeezy use, and how do I charge it?

Squeezy comes with a rechargeable 7.4V 350mAh 2S LiPo battery, and a 2S LiPo charger is included with this bundle. Never leave a charging battery unattended, and store your LiPo partially charged in a LiPo safe bag when not in use.

What spare parts should I keep on hand?

Hubs, tires, and N10 1650 motors are the parts most likely to need replacing after hard hits or wear. The zip ties used as ground-scraping forks on the claws are also easy to replace and worth keeping a few spares of. Check the Maintenance tab above for the current parts list and pricing.

What else do I need to run the bot?

This bundle includes a 2S LiPo Charger for the included battery. You’ll still need a transmitter that uses the AFHDS 2A protocol. Turnabot recommends the FlySky FS-i6, available at ItGresa. The FlySky FS-CT6B will not work with a Malenki — it uses the older AFHDS protocol, while the Malenki requires AFHDS 2A. The “2A” matters. If you need both a transmitter and a charger, see our Transmitter & Charger bundle.

You’ll also need a charger for the 2S LiPo battery. You can get a basic 2S charger here — the same type included in our Squeezy bundles. If you think you’ll move into larger bots down the road, consider the C6D charger, which handles voltages beyond 2S.

You can find bundles including the kit, transmitter, and charger on our kits page.

How do I set up my radio?

Squeezy’s assembly instructions (downloadable under Product Documents on this page) include detailed step-by-step radio setup for the FlySky FS-i6 — covering binding, battery alarm settings, weapon end points, drive direction checks, and how to reverse a channel if anything runs backward. Follow those steps in order for the smoothest setup.

Does the signal to the Malenki need to be mixed?

No — the Malenki Nano comes with steering mixing built in and enabled by default, so a standard radio works right out of the box.

Tip: If your transmitter is already mixed, you must use an unmixed signal. A mixed transmitter signal plus an ESC that also does mixing results in an unmixed bot — the two mixes cancel each other out.

Tip: How can you tell? Put the drive stick in the upper right corner — the bot should go forward. Put it in the lower left corner — it should go backward. If so, your bot is unmixed.

My Malenki keeps flickering its blue LED — is it stuck in bind mode?

Maybe not — it’s more likely in Configuration Mode, which looks similar but is a different state. The key rule: always turn on your transmitter before you power up your bot. If the Malenki powers on with no transmitter signal present, it can slip into Configuration Mode after just a few seconds — well before the 90 seconds needed to trigger Bind Mode. Configuration Mode is easy to exit: give the bot a quick burst of drive input and it returns to normal drive mode immediately.

This insight comes from Ask Aaron (Team Run Amok), one of the best combat robotics Q&A resources available — with input from Malenki designer Mark Robson himself. What if I strip a screw hole during assembly?

The Squeezy kit includes a few extra M2.5 × 6mm screws for exactly this situation — they’re slightly thicker than the standard M2 × 6mm screws and will bite into a stripped hole. Keep them separate from your other screws so you don’t mix them up, and only use them if a hole strips during the build.
