Screws get stripped, lost in the pits, and launched across arenas. The FingerTech Viper screw pack keeps you armed with the exact hardware your Viper was designed for — not approximate replacements from a generic hardware assortment. Every fastener in this pack is the same black-oxide alloy steel used in the Viper kit itself, with the hex wrenches and bearings to go with them.

What’s in the Pack

The Viper screw kit includes four 2-56 × 1/8″ button head screws to handle motor mounting, four 6-32 × 1/2″ button head screws to secure the front armor, and six 6-32 × 3/8″ button head screws to lock down the top armor. The 0.050″ and 5/64″ hex wrenches cover both screw sizes. And as of June 2025, the pack now includes two 3mm flanged ball bearings for extra drive motor shaft support — a meaningful upgrade for anyone running a Viper hard.

Why Black-Oxide Alloy Steel

These are not stainless steel screws. Black-oxide alloy steel runs nearly twice the tensile strength of stainless — 120,000 psi — which matters when your bot is taking hits and your fasteners are the last line of defense between together and apart. The black oxide finish also looks right on a black chassis and provides mild corrosion resistance in dry environments. Length is measured from under the head.

Why not use stainless steel screws?

Black-oxide alloy steel runs nearly twice the tensile strength of stainless — 120,000 psi vs. approximately 65,000–80,000 psi for standard stainless. In a combat robot, that extra strength matters. The black oxide also looks better on a black chassis and is mildly corrosion resistant in dry environments.

What are the flanged bearings for?

The two 3mm flanged ball bearings added in June 2025 provide extra support for the Viper's drive motor shafts. The flange seats against the chassis, keeping the bearing located under load. They're a direct drop-in for the Viper and add measurable drive shaft stability — particularly useful if you're running the bot hard or competing regularly.

Will these fit other FingerTech kits?

This pack is spec'd for the FingerTech Viper antweight combat robot. The 2-56 and 6-32 screw sizes are common in antweight builds generally, so individual screws may work in other contexts — but the pack quantities and lengths are matched to the Viper specifically.

How is screw length measured?

Length is measured from under the head — standard practice for button head cap screws. A 1/8" screw has 1/8" of thread engagement below the surface of whatever it's fastening into.
